(i'm not normally this negative on movies - i tend to see redeeming characteristics in the majority of films - even those movies people see as undredeemable!!)

This movie sucked.. simple as - and I DO 'get' the humour of it - i understand the 'jokes' that are made but the film is BORING - you don't give a shit about any of the characters and really don't care about the story. I like Dennis Quaid and enjoy his performances in most films but this one just tried to appeal to 'higher intellect' individuals but ended up simply alienating the majority of the audience and, for everyone else, not being 'smart' ENOUGH to appeal!

I hear people compare this to the movies of Christopher Guest but it just isn't even similar... I wanted to like it - i really did! Steve Coogan is often very funny and the premise behind the film seemed pretty cool but nah - the same old tired gags... some funny bits but very few and far between. It just doesn't make it as a good film - maybe my expectations were too high. It seemed similar to Be Kind Rewind - very few moments of comedy and a lot of 'jokes' that completely miss the mark.
